Atong Amos Agook Juac, the CEO of Triple A Petroleum, has demanded more inclusion and representation of women within the local oil and gas industry. Juac, during her keynote address at the just concluded South Sudan Oil & Power Conference (SSOP) 2022, told the audience that South Sudan’s oil and gas industry has more to gain by including female entrepreneurs who can provide a wide range of services.
“We need to address the lack of inclusivity and education in the sector. There are so many young women who are inspired to be in the oil sector, but how do they get there?” She asked.
Juac noted that greater gender equality and skills development for women is aligned with the growth and development of South Sudan’s oil and gas industry, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and South Sudan’s National Action Plan.
She advocated for targeted actions to enhance participation of women in the sector, such as providing scholarships to young women and empowering local female entrepreneurs.
The CEO advised policymakers to give women space to participate in the sector, noting that women are the future and the future is now.
She explained that Triple A Petroleum is an energy sector company committed to expanding and accelerating the country’s petroleum industry by ensuring that female participation is at the centre of its operations.
Juac said if South Sudanese women can run successful homes, then they can also run successful businesses in the oil and gas industry.
