Last week I was invited to attend Skyky’s fireside chat featuring NextBerries. Skyky is a community-driven platform at the forefront of the digital fashion space and as a way to continue expanding, they host a collective in which NextBerries is a part. At their core NextBerries is a Nigerian fashion house that is seeking to educate people on the African continent about the growing digital fashion space as a way to provide access and a new way to explore ideas. These ideas have led the NextBerries team to begin creating a new kind of community within Nigeria and if you are looking to learn more be sure to tap on the video.
The pull of fast fashion and the push for over-consumption has created this idea that we need new outfits for every occasion, spend excess money instead of creating clothing ourselves, and that we have to impress others with the clothing we are buying.
