I have always been of the opinion that personal style represents how you see yourself in the world. Some might say it's just clothes but i strongly believe otherwise. Your essence can be greatly described by how you dress and your confidence enhanced by how comfortable, sexy or cool you feel in an outfit and what the outfit represents for you. With fast fashion brands quickly on the rise, i find that a lot of people find it hard to express how they feel with clothing and are fast becoming clones with what others they see online
There is an abundance of creativity in everything we do and personal style reflects that. Being intentional about how i look and defining my personal style has helped me greatly to streamline my wardrobe and make purchases that suit my personal aesthetic and palette. Comfortable, sexy and cool are three words i would use to define my personal style. I follow a lot of fashion influencers and models who have my body type and fashion sense. It is important to do so because the way a piece of clothing works for some other person may not work for you which can take a huge blow to your self confidence by judging your body and feeling not good enough when in reality, you might not be dressing for your body type, or expressing yourself with your style in a way that makes you confident and comfortable
I believe every outfit tells a story about you and how you feel. When i struggled with my mental health and could barely get out of bed, i barely put any effort into how i looked and that reflected in how confident i was about myself. That experience made me realize how much style could be a form of creative expression to me just as words are. Defining my wardrobe was a key factor in changing my style and selecting pieces that communicated how i felt to the world. What someone else may describe as masculine and bold, helps me feel comfortable and confident in my body. Sexy could mean an entirely different thing to someone else and that is the whole point of self expression. Words have different meanings depending on the person and their perspective. I don't subscribe to the opinion that clothes have to be gendered. I think that keeps you in a box and unable to truly explore what makes you feel good. Wearing what makes you feel empowered and sensual should be the ultimate goal in your style representation. Curating a wardrobe that reflects the qualities and highlights your best features would help you show up better in the long run. There is no one size fits all and have fun while you communicate your desires through clothes!
