Firstly, you'd ask who a writer is. A writer is one who brings more than just characters to life. He or she brings feelings, ideas, as well as thoughts to life. They aim to convey information that may or may not resonate with the readers nevertheless, their primary focus are the readers.
What type of audience am I writing for?
That's the questions they ask and that's what helps them actually know in what direction to write. However, it is important to state that there are various writers and now, I was told by one of my lecturers, that every writer can be an author; you know, have literary works of various kinds published under their name, but not every author is a writer.
In the sense that, not everyone is born with that gift to actually craft out beautiful words that can change the life of the individual who reads it. Some of them have to hire a writer.
See, that's where ghostwriting comes in.
That most certainly is not where I am going though. The main purpose of this article is to share my experience as a writer and an author and though I am still navigating that path, I still believe that there is more to meet the eyes in this career.
There are two things about being a writer that I want to point out in my own point of view. Writing can be subjective and objective depending on your area of expertise and focus.
But for me, I believe that a writer's life is always going to be based on making subjective statements and penning down subjective thoughts.
I say this because as a writer, is it really possible to detach your emotions from your written work? I doubt that. It is usually very hard not to feel sentimental about the topic you're asked to write about or you have in mind to write about.
A writer can often find themselves asking deep questions even when they're writing a novel. They find that they begin to mentally experience those events themselves.
However, as a writer, most times, when I write about events my characters experience, I often don't feel what they feel until I go back to re-read that whole text. I don't know if it happens to a lot of us.
I wish to go further about this but perhaps I'll continue in my next post.
Summarily, a writer's life can be quite complicated especially when they find themselves living the world they had created in their own minds of having to choose between being objective and being subjective in their written works.
Being a writer is a very lovely career path and can be a noble one too. I love what I do, that's for sure and I'm hoping to have significant growth in it. It's more about touching people with my novels and my small articles like this one.
Ps.
I hope you like it and I hope to see you in my next post, my amazing readers. Afterall, what's a writer without a reader?
