Hassatou Diop N’Sele, a finance professional with over 30 years of banking and finance experience, has been appointed as the vice president for finance and chief financial officer at the African Development Bank (AFDB).
A press release issued by the financial institution disclosed that N’Sele’s appointment would take effect from October 16, 2022.
Commenting on the appointment, the president of AFDB, Akinwumi Adesina, described the Senegalese as a finance professional with extensive experience. He pointed out that she has made outstanding contributions to the financial institution.
“She will provide leadership for the top-rate finance team at the Bank in the formulation and implementation of the Bank’s financial strategies and transformation agenda in support and furtherance of its development mandate,” Adesina said.
N’Sele thanked Adesina for his confidence in her, stating that she looks forward to working with the dedicated team at the bank to transform Africa.
The banker holds a Master of Business Administration degree in finance and a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business, both from George Washington University, Washington DC, USA.
She has been the acting vice president for finance and chief financial officer at the AFDB since November 2021.
During her time as treasurer of the institution, she led key strategic and technical financial initiatives geared towards optimising the bank’s financial capacity.
