We are like beggars in our land.
Adapting to the most uncomfortable
Even when it destroys
We keep adjusting...
We take trains to avoid kidnapping.
We move into towns to avoid bandits.
We don't keep late nights, just to stay safe.
Even that isn't guaranteed
We avoid being luxurious to avoid prying eyes, who could whisper to these monsters.
We built gates on our streets for our protection, almost every lane in my area has a barrier.
We donate funds to pay employed security personnels.
We get street IDs, so we can be alerted when anyone strange comes around.
We remove our kids from schools in the outskirts and enroll them in those located in towns to avoid abduction.
A few streets close their gates by 6 pm, sometimes earlier.
We are extra cautious when we drive, we notice every vehicle behind us for more than five minutes.
We spend our money to feel safe, all the security we have, WE PROVIDED FOR OURSELVES.
Everyday we think of how to be impregnable, we are paranoid about our safeness.
To balance the equation, we pray and will continue to.
But all we hear from the government who swore to protect us are;
• We have invaded their hideouts...
• Some repented BH members would be reintegrated...
• We intercepted so so and so...
• Network has been blocked off in some LGAs as part of the Anti-Bandit operations...
How have all of these improved the security situation in the state?
Residents are still being butchered, burnt, shot and kidnapped in different areas of Kaduna State. People continue to lose their loved ones.
Mass burials are conducted regularly. We haven't seen progress, everything is still the same.
How many bandits, FH, BH have been prosecuted?
The even Arab Emirates exposed Nigerians funding these terrors, but we haven't heard or seen one name released by our government, neither has the security problem been solved.
This security situation should've been tackled head-on when it started. But was left to linger, now, it has escalated and the measures being taken presently are causing untold hardships to the common man.
