After taking over Instagram, rising star, Elsa Majimbo is ready to leave a more permanent mark in the digital universe. Having partnered with Mohamed Kheir and Pepijn Temming for The Alphabet Universe, this is possibly her most ambitious project yet.
The Kenyan content creator has already proven to the world that she is not here to play games after capitalising on her newfound global attention. What started off as a first of its kind collaborative project between Majimbo and Italian fashion house, Valentino, has now metamorphosed into a digital take over. Last week, Majimbo etched her name into the metaverse by releasing a set of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) titled, The Alphabet Universe. An NFT is a unique digital identifier that enables ownership and transfers to be tracked on a blockchain. This means that she can potentially get compensated every time her animations are used or resold.
The Alphabet Universe collection is made up of 26 unique letter animations which will be strategically rolled out in 3 phases. In phase one, eight letters will be gamified, allowing collectors to create words and claim rewards. Phase two will make it possible for users to upgrade their letters and it will function as a currency for their community. Phase three promises to be a special rollout as they plan to release their very own word game, AlphaBattle. By inviting fans to join the voice channel platform, Discord, the Alphabet team is aiming to build a community of their own. Majimba and her team retain intellectual property rights.
The chess champion always plays a long game; after a collaboration with a renowned haute couture brand and a collection of digital assets in the metaverse, she leaves fans constantly on their toes.
