British-Nigerian rapper Simbiatu Abisola Ajikawo, better known by her stage name Little Simz, won her first award as Best Female Act following the release of her album Sometimes I Might Be An Introvert. The Best Male Act which was presented by Tiwa Savage went to the British grime MC, Ghett. This was the first Mobo win for the rapper, who also performed at the ceremony.
Nigeria's Wizkid bagged two awards, Best International Act and Best African Act, while 23-year-old David Orobosa, stage name Dave, took home the Album of the Year Award for his no.1 record, We're All Alone In This Together.
Hosted by Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Munya Chawawa, this year's edition returned as the first in-person Mobo Awards since 2017. There were no awards in 2018 and 2019 and a virtual ceremony in 2020.
