What makes you see a book and want to pick it up?

Is it the title, the author, maybe the colours, or something else?

What are some things you consider when designing your book cover? 

Here is the cover for my debut novel. I wanted the woman to be African, with short hair, piercing eyes and a light and darkness across her face to represent the two sides of her character.
