Amazon Studios has appointed Lala Akindoju, a Nigerian actress with over a decade of experience in the film industry, as its senior movies creative executive for Nigeria.
Ned Mitchell, the head of originals, Africa & Middle East, Amazon Studios, made this announcement via his LinkedIn page on Tuesday, September 6.
He said the appointment of Akindoju and three other new executives would drive the expansion of the streaming service across the continent and deliver premium content to local and global audiences.
In addition to Akindoju, the other executives include Ann Williams - head of scripted and movies for South Africa; Brendan Gabriel, the senior unscripted creative executive for South Africa; and Mike-Steve Adeleye, the senior scripted Creative Executive for Nigeria. They will be joining Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu on the Amazon Studios Originals development team.
An excited Akindoju, via an Instagram post, said it was an honour to be part of the team committed to making an impact in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The veteran actress commended the streaming service for its commitment to creating laser-focused opportunities for creatives and content.
“I am incredibly excited to be joining the Amazon Studios Local Originals team as the Senior Movies Creative Executive, Nigeria. Amazon Studios has shown its commitment to creating opportunities that are laser-focused on creatives & content,'' she said.
