Her previous release, "Odo Ntia," also centered around love, showcasing her versatility as an artist and her ability to evoke emotions through her music.
Following the single release, the Ghanaian songstress caught up with AMAKA to provide deep insights into the creative process and inspiration behind the song. Starting with the production, she revealed, "The song was born out of the collaborative efforts of four amazing Ghanaian UK-Based record producers and instrumentalists." Jayso, Kaasare, Klasikbeatz, and Owura each brought their unique skills and musical backgrounds to the table, resulting in a dynamic and captivating sound. "The instrumental was originally for Kaasare’s project," Owusu revealed. "But he happily gave it to me, and after hearing the demo, Jayso and I wrote and recorded it." Speaking on what attracted her to the song, TiTi stated, "The Adowa element makes the song very different, and it was easy for me to incorporate Adowa-inspired rhythms and adlibs into the song."
While TiTi Owusu enjoyed the instrumental, her desire to embrace her Ghanaian heritage was her primary motivation. However, for the singer, showcasing her Ghanaian identity extends beyond the musical aspect of "Make Me Believe (Nana)." As an artist, she sees her music as a means of expressing her cultural values and beliefs and reclaiming her cultural identity in a globalized world. She describes her music as an expression of her identity and finding empowerment. She created "Make Me Believe (Nana)" to showcase the beautiful, rich sounds of Africa and the Akan tribe.
Her recognition of her role in preserving Ghanaian culture and the global success of Afrobeats also inspired "Make Me Believe (Nana). " "Music is a powerful tool for preserving and passing on cultural traditions," Owusu expounded on her inspiration. "It helps to keep languages, stories, rituals, and historical experiences alive," she added. Through "Make Me Believe (Nana)," Owusu aimed to contribute to promoting African music and culture globally. She believed that by sharing the unique sounds and stories of the Akan tribe, she could foster a greater appreciation and understanding of African traditions among audiences worldwide.
