Gig Launch Management on AMAKA Platform
Role: Project Manager Platform: AMAKA – A creative marketplace connecting brands with African talent Timeline: [Insert Dates, e.g. Q4 2024 – Q1 2025] Tools Used: Jira, Monday.com, Figma, Slack, Notion Project Overview: As the Project Manager at AMAKA, I led the successful launch and iteration of the “Gigs” feature — a core platform module that enables brands to hire vetted African creatives for short-term collaborations. The objective was to create a seamless, scalable workflow for brands to post gigs, match with talent, manage milestones, and complete payments securely on-platform. Objectives: Enable brands to create and manage gig postings. Design an intuitive end-to-end experience for creators to discover and apply for gigs. Implement milestone-based workflows and secure payout systems. Reduce spam and ensure quality control of gigs posted. Collect and analyze feedback from both sides to improve the experience post-launch. Key Responsibilities: Scoping & Requirements Gathering Collaborated with the product and business teams to define user personas, success metrics, and technical constraints. Led discovery sessions to identify brand and creator pain points in off-platform gig collaboration. User Story Development & Workflow Design Wrote comprehensive user stories for features like gig posting, creator application flows, milestone tracking, escrow logic, and payout release. Mapped out user journeys in Figma, incorporating platform fee logic, vetting processes, and spam prevention measures (e.g., requiring card details before posting gigs). Cross-Functional Coordination Worked closely with designers, backend/frontend developers, and QA to ensure timely sprints and feature completeness. Set up sprint goals and review cadences via Jira and Monday.com, ensuring alignment with business OKRs. Launch & Feedback Collection Coordinated internal testing, stakeholder walkthroughs, and soft-launch communication. Deployed the feature in stages, starting with internal teams and select clients. Designed a feedback loop using Notion and Monday.com to collect, categorize, and prioritize user feedback for fast iteration. Post-Launch Optimization Led sprint retros and roadmap updates based on analytics and qualitative feedback. Prioritized updates including creator invitation via social handles, spam detection systems, and improved contract visibility (gig vs services vs direct hiring). Outcomes: Enabled dozens of successful brand–creator collaborations within the first month post-launch. Reduced spam gigs by over 70% through preventive design and card verification. Streamlined internal processes for contract tracking and escrow payout automation. Established a scalable foundation for future feature expansions like creator services and subscription-based team hiring (Fractional Teams).
Launch of AMAKA Mobile App
Role: Project Manager Platform: AMAKA – A creative marketplace for African talent Timeline: [Insert Dates, e.g. Q1 – Q2 2025] Tools Used: Jira, Monday.com, Figma, Notion, Slack, Firebase, Play Store Console, TestFlight Project Overview: As Project Manager, I oversaw the end-to-end delivery of AMAKA’s first mobile application, available on both Android and iOS. The goal was to expand the platform’s accessibility for creators and brands across Africa by offering a streamlined mobile-first experience for discovering gigs, purchasing creative services, messaging, and tracking collaborations on the go. Objectives: Build a lightweight yet robust mobile app reflecting core AMAKA web platform features. Improve user engagement and retention through push notifications and mobile-native interactions. Optimize mobile experience for creators managing gigs, contracts, and service listings. Launch across Android and iOS stores with stable performance and UX. Key Responsibilities: Feature Prioritization & Scope Definition Defined the MVP feature set focused on high-usage areas: gig browsing, service listings, messaging, and contracts. Aligned stakeholders across product, design, and engineering on mobile vs. web priorities. Created a phased roadmap for post-MVP features like in-app purchases and wallet management. Sprint Management & QA Oversight Coordinated development sprints, feature testing, and bug resolution cycles using Jira and Monday.com. Led QA testing across devices (iOS, Android) ensuring responsiveness, push notification functionality, and secure authentication. Built and tracked bug triage boards, addressing feedback from internal testers and early adopters. Collaboration with Designers & Engineers Worked closely with the design team to translate AMAKA’s branding into mobile UI/UX, optimizing flows for small screens. Interfaced with backend developers to integrate APIs for contract data, messages, and creator profiles in real time. User Testing & Beta Rollout Managed closed beta testing via TestFlight and internal APKs, gathering real-time feedback from creators and brand partners. Built a structured feedback form and feedback synthesis process to inform pre-launch adjustments. App Store Launch & Post-Launch Monitoring Oversaw the app submission process, ensuring Play Store and App Store guidelines were met (privacy policy, screenshots, metadata). Monitored app analytics (Firebase) and store reviews to iterate on early release issues. Initiated version 1.1 roadmap for critical updates based on usage data and feedback. Outcomes: Successfully launched the AMAKA mobile app on iOS and Android within deadline. Achieved [Insert Metrics: e.g. 1,000+ downloads in first month, 4.7-star rating on Play Store]. Boosted platform engagement with push notification features and mobile contract accessibility. Reduced creator drop-off rate by providing a more accessible, mobile-native interface.
