I remember getting an email sharing that an international artist would be coming to South Africa to headline a festival debuting in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Things had to be kept under wraps until the 31st of October 2023 at exactly 07:30 am.
Now that time has passed, I can freely share the information with you.
Milk and Cookies, an acclaimed production and marketing company founded by four Morehouse College alumni, is happy to announce that Kaytranada will headline the very first Milk + Cookies Festival South Africa.
The festival will take place on the 5th and 11th of January 2025. These two dates will mark the festival's debut, which has been celebrated globally by music lovers.
Dubbed the Timeless Tour, Kaytranada is ready to share his music with fans in South Africa for the very first time.
Milk + Cookies has become a trusted name in curating live events for the biggest artists and brands; now they’re coming to South Africa, promising a cultural reset.
"We're incredibly honored to host the Milk + Cookies Festival in South Africa. This isn't just about putting on a show; it's about immersing ourselves in the culture, learning from it, and contributing to it,” said a spokesperson for Milk & Cookies. “South Africa's influence on music, culture, and art is profound, and we wanted to pay homage to that by making it the home of our first international festival. Our goal is to celebrate the local culture while blending it with global sounds to create something truly special."
Focusing on impact and cultural exchange, Milk + Cookies will be hosting an inaugural Milk + Cookies Music Week in South Africa, running from December 31, 2024, to January 11, 2025.
The music week kicks off in Cape Town with New Year's festivities that will include yacht parties, cultural experiences, and exclusive fashion pop-ups led by top local designers to promote local creative talent.
Throughout the week, performances by local artists and DJs will provide the soundtrack to brunch mixers and foster creative exchanges between artists from the United States, South Africa, and other African countries, which can only benefit music.
In week two, artist development will be the focus, offering workshops, panels, and networking mixers designed to nurture South Africa's emerging music talent. Modeled after the successful ATL Music Week, events like songwriting camps and listening sessions will encourage collaboration between South African and American artists, while an executive brunch will celebrate professionals working in the music industry, further fostering collaboration.
