Welcome back to my channel, Fail Smart, where I share my journey as a founder and CEO of a building and growing creative tech platform that is revolutionizing the creator economy for Black and African creative businesses and creators. I saw this post on LinkedIn and chuckled to myself. This is a chronic problem that many talent managers and business owners face when they find the perfect creator or creative talent but have to jump through hoops to find their email. Even when they do find it, it can take 1000 business days for them to respond, and quite frankly, nobody has time for that.
I speak to a lot of brands and talent agencies, and I’ve learned that if they can’t find your contact details, they will simply move on. Why not just DM, you ask? Most businesses and agencies prefer to conduct business and share a detailed brief over email or through some sort of centralized system that is easy to navigate. We also want to make it easier for creators/creative talent to get more money in their pocket. But hey I get it, creators with visibility want privacy and don’t want unsolicited messages in their email inbox.
Our goal is to significantly reduce the time it takes from discovering a creator to commissioning them. We want to make it much easier to send a concise brief to a creator, without all the hassle in between. We’ve launched an invite feature that makes it easier to condense a brief and send it to your channel of choice. I personally think it is very helpful and can be used in the following ways:
Instagram + TikTok DM: You can send a gig brief to creators via Instagram or TikTok DM. All you need to do is copy the gig link and send it to the creator’s social profile via DM, and the full scope and details will be sent to the creator you’re looking for. There’s no back and forth—they can simply apply through the link, and you can continue the conversation about the brief on AMAKA via chat.
WhatsApp + Text: You can send the brief to creators via WhatsApp or iMessage as well. If you have their phone number or contact details, you can automatically send it to them through WhatsApp.
Email: The old-fashioned way via email, but you can send it en masse. You can add up to 20 emails in the invite link, and an automatic overview of the gig will be sent to the creators of your choice.
Apply: Creators can view the brief, easily apply and submit all the details you need, such as a video submission, portfolio links, or a written cover letter. All proposal responses are condensed in the ‘Gigs’ tab, under ‘Manage content' in the ‘Your Studio’ dashboard, so you’re not sifting through numerous emails just to find that one message from a creator.
Accept or Reject: We’ve also made it easier to streamline communication. You can get a quick yes or no response to the gig from the creator, helping you decide if the gig is right for them. It’s concise, easy, and offers a more streamlined process. You’ll be able to receive email alerts for when a Gig contract is accepted or declined, and when it’s terminated or completed.
