He and him wife travel more than 300 kilometers inside Ogooué River go set up small hospital. People dey waka hundreds of kilometers just to reach dis Schweitzer’s one-room hospital, di only place wey dem fit see doctor. Him and him wife Helene work tire, to di point wey dem nearly collapse. But World War I come force dem to stop, as di French government hold dem as German prisoners.

After di war, Dr. Schweitzer come go back Gabon, re-build di hospital wey war don spoil, and continue di free medical care for anybody wey need am. For another forty years, until e die for 1963, Schweitzer spend most of him life for Gabon, and di rest time, e dey waka around di world dey raise money and encourage people to follow him example.
