International Women’s Day: When the Law Fails, No One is Safe
Today, we celebrate women. We celebrate their strength and impact.
Every woman is a queen, and queens deserve a world where they can speak and lead without fear.
But let’s talk about reality. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended for six months after speaking up against Senate President - Godswill Akpabio. Whether you support her or not, one thing is clear- this is not just about feminism. This is about power and the failure of the system.
In a country where the rule of law is weak, anyone can be a victim. If a senator can be silenced this easily, what about the everyday person? What about you and I?
What happened to Natasha could happen to your mother, sister, spouse, or daughter. It could happen to you because it shows anybody with power, can sweep you under the carpet.
International Women’s Day is not just about celebration, it’s a reminder of the work that still needs to be done. Because when justice fails one, it fails all.
