WHAT IS LOVE?

I think the word 'love' has been used so many times by people that it's lost its meaning.
Everytime, out of every single tingle of excitement one feels, the word 'love' is used. But what is love and why are we so quick to use at every slight chance?
I love football. I love sex. I love music. I love food. I love Burna Boy, the sight of him makes me go crazy. I love Genevieve, her hips are fire.
I love my job. I love swimming. I love blocking people, it feels good.
I love this and I love that and I love love.
We would love everything if we could.
In my opinion, love is much deeper than feeling, it's much deeper than first sights, it's much deeper than sudden pangs of excitement and joy.
Love is a living, breathing being that lives in us and in our creator.
God is love. Cliche, yes but there has never been something more truthful.
Imagine in this present day, one person in your life who would suffer an incredible pain in your favour.
I don't know any mother who would sacrifice her child to save some group of people.
But he did. He gave up his first son to death and suffering. He watched him head to the death, heard him plead multiple times for the 'cup to pass from him', ignored the fatherly instinct to save his child when he cried out to him in pain.
His son lived knowing that he was going to die. He probably had a lot of enemies, a lot of betrayers. He probably struggled to make a living. Maybe he fell in love but got served before he could confess his feelings.
I can imagine he once had friends who turned their backs on him. People spat on him, literally. They ridiculed him and called him fake even in the midst of his miracles.
And yet, he walked to his death place, his cross dragging his shoulders to the floor. I can't imagine the pain he felt then, being whipped by the people he came to save.
I can't imagine the pain he felt when those ungrateful people left him to die and chose a thief over him.
It has been confirmed that crucifixion is the most painful way to die after being burned alive.
If you knew, you would come back to life after being crucified like that, I can bet that you still wouldn't do it.
So, when someone who you've just met comes to tell you that he loves you, remember this picture....The picture of the greatest love that ever humanity know.
Love is an unquenchable fire that continues to burn in the face of every circumstance. In pain, in joy, in wealth, in failing health, in lack and want and the fulfilment of every need.
Love is loyalty, love is kind, love is trust, love is not selfless and love isn't blind.
