The fast-growing skincare brand, Topicals announced $10 million in new financing led by CAVU Consumer Partners. This announcement makes the 26-year-old founder and CEO, Olamide Olowe, the youngest Black woman ever to raise such an amount in venture funding.
The company said the funding would be used to propel the brand's omnichannel growth, drive new hires, support channel expansion and fuel brand marketing awareness.
In a statement, Olowe said the partnership with CAVU is based on their shared vision of disrupting the ointment category.
"At this stage of growth, it's crucial for us to have an investment partner who can provide value outside of capital, and with CAVU we have a team of experts ready to roll their sleeves up and do the hard work of taking this brand to the next level," she stated.
Topicals recorded explosive 3x revenue growth in 2021 alone. The company has a diverse portfolio of investors, including Gabrielle Union, Kelly Rowland, Hannah Bronfman, Bozoma Saint John, Yvonne Orji, and Marcy Venture Partners.
The firm has transformed how people treat skin infections through effective products made with ingredients and herbals that have been scientifically proven via third-party, peer-reviewed clinical studies.
The company also continues its mission of raising awareness around the connection between mental health and skin conditions.
