A survivor’s story that not only sheds light into what millions of women in abusive relationships experience but also narrates a beautiful coming into power story that encourages readers that there’s nothing you cannot overcome.
Overall, this book contains some unsettling, uncomfortable and unforgettable truths that are necessary for one’s growth.
I really love how the author was really vulnerable and how authentic she was when narrating the social pathologies and societal norms and misconceptions that not only shaped her thinking but that also enabled her abuser, but my favourite part has to be when she got her power back, realising that she had to choose herself. Even on the journey of taking back her power, Shana Fife doesn’t sugarcoat the experience, she offers authenticity about the experience which is really refreshing to read.
