Netflix is set to release, Supa Team 4, its first African animated series on the 20th of July.
The 8-part series follows four teenage girls who become undercover superheroes in a neo-futuristic version of the city of Lusaka, Zambia, after their recruitment by a former secret agent.
The show was created by writer Malenga Mulendema, South African animation studio Triggerfish, and London-based kids specialist Cake, with additional animation from France’s Superprod.
African voice talent includes; John Kani, Pamela Nomvete, Zowa Ngwira, Namisa Mdlalose, Nancy Sekhokoane, Linda Sokhulu, and Sparky Xulu. International actors are John McMillan and Kimani Arthur.
Zambian rapper, singer and songwriter Sampa the Great created the show’s theme song.
"Supa Team 4" will also be dubbed in isiZulu.
