The nominees for the 16th edition of The Headies have been announced.

Poised as Nigeria's foremost music award show, the 2023 edition of The Headies is set to honour the best local and international musical talent.

This year Ayra Starr, Tems, Tiwa Savage, and Simi contend for the Best Female Artist award.

For her work on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack album, Tems received two additional nominations. "No Woman, No Cry" for Best Recording of the Year and "Lift Me Up" for Songwriter of the Year.

Ayra Starr received the Afrobeats Single of the Year and Viewers Choice nominations for her track, "Rush". She is also nominated for the Digital Artiste of the Year category.

Simi received nominations in the Songwriter of the Year, Best R&B Single, Best R&B Album, and Best Vocal Performance (Female).

Other nominees in the Best Vocal Performance (Female) category include; Niniola, Dami Oniru, WAJE, Liya, and Preye.

Libianca will contend in the Best Central African Artiste of the Year category and Uncle Waffles for Best Southern African Artiste of the Year.
