Missed the session? No worries! We've got you covered with a full recap and some key takeaways to remember as you build your brand.
In this webinar, we explored:
- What you bring to the table: Identify the types of brands you can collaborate with and organically weave those mentions into your content, tagging the brands themselves.
- Building with authenticity: Start creating brand-friendly content from the beginning to establish trust with your audience.
- The power of hashtags (and how they help you get noticed): While not a magic bullet for virality, hashtags can still be valuable for getting on brand radars. Many brands use platforms that scan relevant tags, so including them strategically can increase your discoverability.
- Thinking beyond follower count: Consider how you can offer value outside of your direct audience. This could involve creating User-Generated Content, becoming a brand advocate, or even hosting events or presentations on a brand's page.
- Making it easy for brands to connect: Ensure your email address is prominently displayed in your bio so brands can easily find and contact you for potential collaborations.
- Negotiation is key: Don't be afraid to negotiate for better deals! Rates, usage rights, exclusivity, deliverables, platforms, timelines, revisions, and payment terms are all up for discussion. Even if a brand offers a free product in exchange for promotion, negotiate based on your usual rates for similar content.
- Protect your work: Avoid signing contracts with terms like "in perpetuity" or exclusivity without receiving proper compensation. Your work is your intellectual property, so always negotiate usage rights.
- Building long-term partnerships: Go the extra mile by sending a post-campaign recap report and pitching future ideas. This demonstrates your commitment and strengthens the relationship.
- For those just starting out: Clearly define your audience and niche. Concisely articulate what you do and who you create content for.
