On Monday, the 8th of April 2024, the AMAKA team ventured off to New York. Our mission was simple, connect with our community and provide value/insights to brands looking to work with Pan-African creators.

While in New York we hosted three events, let's take a look at all the highlights of these :

1. Lehman College - Monday, 8 April 2024

We kicked off the New York takeover at Lehman College where our CEO and Founder, Adaora Oramah gave a presentation on AMAKA. The title of the presentation was "Navigating the New Era : Empowering Black and African Creators in the Dynamic Media Landscape". This was an opportunity for us to connect with students in the creative space, as well as those in other academic fields who are interested in becoming a creator. The event was hybrid, with a few attendees tuning in virtually. It was so great to connect with our Lehman College community - in person and virtually. We are looking forward to continuing our Partnership with Lehman College and will be hosting more events with them in the future.

2. New York Roadshow - Thursday, 11 April 2024

On Thursday, we held the second leg of our AMAKA Roadshow.

Our Panellists for the event were :

• Moderator: Amanda Ogeah, Brand Director at AMAKA Studio
• Panellist 1: Adaora Oramah, CEO at AMAKA Studio
• Panellist 2: Beverly Joseph, New York Creator 
• Panellist 3: Denisha Thomas, New York Creator 

The AMAKA New York Roadshow was an event we held with the intention of providing insights to Brands on how to work with Pan - African Creators. This was also an opportunity for creatots to learn from industry leaders.

The content was broken down into two parts :

• Be part of the change: Your voice and perspective are invaluable in shaping the future of creator marketing. Network with fellow creators, businesses and professionals.
• Gain valuable insights: Learn from industry leaders during a panel discussion and workshop, equipping you with the knowledge to navigate the ever-evolving creator landscape.

We had a full house at the event with a post panel networking session. Shout out to our panelists for an insightful session and to Soho House for the incredible food and drinks served throughout the event.

3. AMAKA Creator Meet Up - Friday, 12 April 2024

We closed off our New York takeover with the Creator meet up. In Partnership with Hella Awkward Cards and The Se7en we hosted an informal meet-up to introduce the New York creative scene to AMAKA. The event started with a presentation from our CEO and Founder, Adaora Oramah on who AMAKA is and why we exist. This was followed by an inter-active card game facilitated by Hella Awkward - this game got the crowd going. The evening was closed off by a networking session with a DJ playing in the background.

Thank you so much to our New York community for rocking with us last week. It was great to meet everyone in person and we are looking forward to seeing more of our Creators online or in other regions we plan to visit in the future.
