"I created My Mane to be a platform and brand that I once needed growing up as a young black woman in a westernised world, where the definition of 'beauty' didn't resemble the image I saw in the mirror, in particular, the natural crown of coils and curls I was blessed with. Little did I know the damage the lack of representation in the mainstream media, magazines or actresses in my favourite movies or childhood TV programmes, had on my growing insecurities and lack of self-love towards my curly hair. In combination with the lack of knowledge and understanding to care for my natural hair type and a conditioned mindset into the idea of westernised beauty. Knowing there are others just like me, sharing the same feelings of insecurity, I instantly knew that this needed to change! A passion became a goal, which became a plan, and My Mane was born! I strive to create a community to empower you and your crown and also provide you with some fantastic products catered especially for your curls, kinks and coils! To be the representation we need for ourselves, one that the younger generation will be proud of, be able to learn from and understand we are Queens and do not need external validation."
