Get ready to bring your most creative ideas to life! At this year’s Sony Alpha Fest 2024, themed “Art Connects,” AMAKA and Sony are giving you the chance to pitch your innovative campaign idea to an expert panel.
We’re seeking original concepts that embody the theme "Art Connects" by highlighting Nigerian creativity, showcasing diverse perspectives, or pushing boundaries in storytelling. Five finalists will pitch live in Lagos for the chance to win 1,173,585.00 NGN ($700).
Top Tips for a Winning Pitch:
- Explore Sony Alpha Universe: Visit the official Sony Alpha Universe website and Instagram page to learn more about the brand, event theme, activities, and Sony’s latest gear. This insight will help shape your pitch.
- Be Specific: Articulate exactly how your concept will connect audiences and celebrate Nigerian culture.
Here are some examples of possible pitch Ideas:
- "Family Ties": A photo or video series capturing family traditions, rituals, and stories, showcasing how art and storytelling pass down values and connect generations.
- "Youth Voices": A video project capturing the perspectives of young Nigerian artists, documenting how they use art to challenge norms, express identity, and connect with others.
- "Stories in Motion": A dance video or choreography project using movement to represent the connection between people, their land, and their cultural heritage.
- "Unity in Diversity": A montage of daily life scenes from different Nigerian communities, visually connecting everyday moments to show the beauty of cultural diversity.
- Show Your Passion: Let your enthusiasm for storytelling and digital creativity shine through in your pitch.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome all Nigerian creators with strong, original ideas for content that aligns with the theme “Art Connects.”
You must either be Lagos-based or be able to travel to Lagos to pitch to a panel of judges at Alpha Fest if selected.
However, please ensure you meet the following:
- Video Editing Skills: You must be able to edit and produce your campaign content if chosen.
- Social Media Presence: A strong following or engagement on Instagram, Meta, or TikTok is desired, as this campaign emphasises community reach and engagement.
- Demonstrate the "Art Connects" Theme:Your project idea should highlight how art connects people, communities, and cultures. Whether through photography, videography, or content creation, your concept should showcase the power of art to bridge gaps, foster unity, and celebrate shared experiences. We are looking for ideas that reflect diverse artistic expressions and demonstrate the ways art connects us in meaningful ways.
- Integrate Sony Products:As part of the competition, you will need to incorporate Sony’s latest gear and technology into your content creation process. Your application should demonstrate how you plan to use Sony’s products (such as cameras, lenses, audio equipment, or accessories) to bring your artistic vision to life. This can include specifics on how Sony’s equipment enhances your work, whether for shooting, editing, or capturing sound.
How to Enter:
- Submission: Create a 1-minute video pitch explaining your idea, or submit a 250-word written brief. (You can either upload your video directly to AMAKA if it is under 3MB or upload to Google Drive and include a drive link in your proposal that is open for anyone to view)
- Content Focus: Your pitch should be original, community-oriented, and reflect the “Art Connects” theme.
- Deadline: Submit your entry by 20 November, and keep an eye out for the shortlist announcement!
Please note: AMAKA and Sony will be reviewing your AMAKA profiles as part of the selection process, so make sure your profile is fully completed and includes 1-3 content samples showcasing your work.
Judging Criteria:
- Creativity: Is your idea unique and impactful?
- Community Connection: How well does your concept connect with Nigerian audiences?
- Feasibility: Can your idea be realistically executed within the event’s resources?
- Artistic Excellence: How well does your idea align with the “Art Connects” theme?
